It was a pleasure to host Dave McCormick at the Lackawanna Energy Center this November, alongside my friend Michael Polsky and the outstanding Invenergy team.
The Lackawanna Energy Center stands as one of the most significant infrastructure investments in Northeastern Pennsylvania in recent decades. Since commencing operations in 2019, this $1.5 billion, state-of-the-art facility has created hundreds of family-sustaining jobs, strengthened the region’s energy reliability, and earned recognition as one of the most energy-efficient power plants in the United States.
Beyond its economic impact, the facility represents something even more important: long-term stability for Pennsylvania’s energy future. Conversations with leaders like Senator McCormick are essential as we continue to focus on delivering reliable, affordable, and secure energy—cornerstones for sustained economic growth across the Commonwealth. I’m proud of the role Invenergy continues to play in meeting those needs while also investing directly in the communities it serves.
We concluded the day with a visit to Luzerne County Community College, an institution especially near and dear to my heart. It was meaningful to give Michael the opportunity to see firsthand the incredible work being done in workforce development—preparing students for real careers and supporting the long-term vitality of our region.
I’m grateful for strong partnerships, thoughtful dialogue, and the opportunity to highlight the progress being made right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. These moments underscore what’s possible when public leaders, private enterprise, and educational institutions work together toward a shared future.
